WOODLAND HILLS, CALIFORNIA, 12/1/11 – On Tuesday, Nov. 22, the students of Louisville High School held a special Thanksgiving Mass honoring their grandparents. Many grandparents of the students were in attendance for this joyous celebration, which many of the girls say is one of their favorite traditions at Louisville.
“I like this tradition because it shows that we at Louisville are connected to our history and want to stay close to older generations,” said senior Bailey Morley.
Many of the students say it is one of their favorite traditions because they appreciate the time to celebrate their Catholic beliefs with their grandparents. “I don’t usually go to Mass with my grandma, and she is very religious. I don’t usually see that side of her, and I love having that time to share in faith with her,” said senior Samantha Forshaw.
Many grandparents are unable to be present at the Mass, but the students who do not have grandparents in attendance still enjoy the celebration. “My grandparents couldn’t come, but I think it’s so cute when the grandparents come; when the husband and wife grandparents come, it’s so wonderful,” said senior Alma Lopez.
Fr. Jarlath Cunnane from Our Lady of Grace Parish celebrated Mass in the new translation, as the students had been preparing for the new changes to the Roman Missal for many weeks.
The celebration continued after Mass with a special picnic lunch and free pie for all.
