Torrance (December 13, 2011): This year’s Bishop Montgomery Open House was truly a special event, as four alumni who are professional athletes returned to campus to speak to the 8th graders at the pep rally held on December 9.

World 100m champion Carmelita Jeter ’98, Los Angeles Sparks star Noelle Quinn ’03, Colorado Rockies minor leaguer Mike Zuanich ’04, and Arena League Football player Josh Jones ’05 (Utah Blaze) were all on hand to visit with prospective Bishop Montgomery students at a very spirited and energetic pep rally. “There was so much energy in the gym,” explained BMHS Marketing Director Andy Marafino. “The 8th graders were having a great time experiencing all that the school has to offer.

As the prospective students entered the BMHS gymnasium, each of them were given an 8 1/2 X 11 glossy collage of the four athletes. The students were then shown a video of all four athletes in action prior to hearing from each of the former BMHS student-athletes. Following the pep rally, the 8th graders lined up to get autographs and pictures.

“It was a special day, not only for the 8th graders, but for all of us here at Bishop Montgomery,” explained Marafino. “The 8th graders were so excited to meet the athletes. All four are such great people and great representatives of Bishop Montgomery and themselves.”
