Paraclete high School Junior, Matthew Gorman, has received top honors in the nation on his National Advanced Leadership training.  The Sea Scouts are an organization that allows students to develop leadership skills while enjoying the freedom of the seas.  Matthew is commanded by Palmdale City Council member, Steve Hofbauer.

The Sea Scouts are a family tradition for the Gorman family, his mother was the in the Sea Scouts and encouraged Matt and his siblings to get involved.  Matthew was drawn to the Sea Scouts because of his desire to continue his education in college and join the Coast Guard as an officer after he graduates.  Matt has risen through the rank to the level of Abel, which is the second highest level that can be achieved.  Matt still finds time to keep his grades high at Paraclete, while helping to command a crew of 14 aboard the vessel, Tsunami.

Paraclete could not be more proud of Matthew’s accomplishments.  Awards have been presented to Matthew from Mayor Jim Ledford of the City of Palmdale, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich – Supervisor, fifth district for the County of Los Angeles and are scheduled to receive awards from national dignitaries in the coming month,
