SANTA MARIA, CA (January 24, 2012)  – In recognition of national Catholic Schools Week, over 700  students, faculty and administration from St. Joseph High School, St. Mary of the Assumption, St. Louis de Montfort and La Purísima Concepción Catholic elementary schools will be celebrating with an All Catholic Schools Mass. This second annual event will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church located at 414 E. Church Street in Santa Maria, California.

Bishop Thomas Curry from Santa Barbara will preside over the Mass and several priests from eight local parishes have been invited to concelebrate this special event. Santa Maria community leaders  along with dignitaries from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Department of Catholic Schools have also been invited to attend the Mass and a special reception in honor of this important week in Catholic education.

Over the past two years, the Principals of the three area Catholic elementary schools, along with the Administration at St. Joseph High School, have been working together to collaborate on efforts to bring the communities of these schools together. This event is one of many planned to enhance the relationships of these schools and their respective communities. “The synergy of our collaborative efforts can have an amazing effect on our students and our local communities”, says Nancy Gastelum, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at St. Joseph High School. “Parents recognize that the high academic standards and  moral values, which are hallmarks of Catholic education, prepare children to do well in college and give them the tools to be successful contributors to their local, national and global communities. From its inception, Catholic education has had a positive effect on the communities it serves. Our goal is to ensure that all of us here in the valley see the impact of that and recognize that we are all in this together”.
